Players In the Palestinian Cup Final still obstructed by Israeli forces

Hilal Al Quds celebrate their 6-4 victory over Shabab Kahn Younis the second leg of the final played on 23 June 2018.  This was the fourth such two leg final since FIFA put pressure on Israel to allow the teams to travel between the West Bank and Gaza.    In the first leg on 19 June in Gaza Khan Younis won 3-2 but in the second leg Hilal Al Quds won 4-1.

Israeli obstruction of players was less than previously three years, but it was still unacceptable.  Players moving from Gaza to the West Bank suffered.  Only eight of the squad of twenty five passed unhindered.  in particular, four were questioned for a few hours and one was interrogated for about seven hours before being allowed to proceed.  One was banned totally from travelling.

Players emphasised that these sort of restrictions on travel of the national team and restrictions on  movements within the West Bank make life extremely difficult for footballers.  FIFA need to put more pressure on the Israeli FA to sort this out with the Israeli authorities.
