The Coalition against Racism in Israel has demanded the integration of Arab players into all sport teams in Israel. It issued the following statement as a result of separation of players in the children’s practice games for second division team Hapoel Hadera.

“Another sign that racism is spreading in the country, the management of Hapoel Hedera separated the Arab players from the Jewish player during practice for the childrens football practice.
Regardless of the fact that accepting the Arabs children, who are residents of Um El Fahem, came as an attempt to rectify the injustice that these children suffer from, since they dont have sport fields in their city that fit their activities. The fact that the parents of the Jewish children requested the separation between the Arabs and Jews shows a pattern of racist thought process, and it gives racial discrimination legitimization.
in this context, The Coalition Against Racism asked the chairmen of the Israeli football association, the management of Hapoel Hedera, and other teams to work towards integrating Arab players into their teams, in addition, The Coalition requested that the matter be investigated and to give proper punishment.
Att. Nidal Othman, director of The Coalition Against Racism, stated that the separation is a sad thing to witness, imagining Arab children practicing next to Jewish children, without them being able to interact with each other. This image emphasizes that
racial discrimination is not an insignificant or unusual, but a state that requires immediate action.
Att. Othman also said: what is worse than this image, is the quite surrounding the issue, we have not heard one comment from any of the members of management, or even the press.
He also stated: “the football fields and any sport field for that matter, should be a prime example for shared living and partnership, football is a game that all children have in common, we cant have a game bring them together, only to have racist ideas separating them.
