Monitoring Committee agrees present its report on settlement clubs to the FIFA Council in January 2017

FIFA’s Israel Palestine Monitoring Committee met on 1 November and resolved that Tokyo Sexwale will present his report on settlement clubs to the FIFA Council meeting in January 2017.  Prior to that, on 21 November, he will meet with the Israeli minister Miri Regev.

At yesterday’s meeting the Israelis tried their normal arguments to delay but Tokyo was clear that the Israeli FA must to observe the FIFA regulations and international law.  He referenced all the information that had been sent to him by RCIR and others which are detailed here in earlier posts. He did not indicate the content and recommendations of his report.  In a press conference after the meeting Jibril Rajoub proposed that the settlement clubs form a league of their own outside the Israeli FA, in line with the Crimean model when UEFA took action to stop Crimean clubs playing in Russian leagues.  The full text of the Reuters report is given at  http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-soccer-fifa-palestinians-idUKKBN12W55V
