For the second year running players have been badly delayed and refused transfer between Gaza and the West Bank. The Israeli Palestine Monitoring Committee was tasked in May 2015 to eliminate such appalling Israeli actions. Clearly the Committee has much to do.
The first leg of the two leg final between Gaza’s Shabab Khan Younis and the West Bank’s Ahly al-Khalil from Hebron was scheduled for late July in Gaza. The Ahly al-Khalil players were stopped trying to enter Gaza at the Erez crossing. According to +972 e-magazine, 7 players were totally banned from entry on an ID technicality, and the remaining squad of 11 players suffered a 12 hour delay before they were finally allowed to enter. The game was played and the Hebron visitors won 1-0.
The second leg was due to be played on Saturday 30 July. When leaving for Hebron on Wednesday 27th, 6 of the squad were denied exit to Israel leaving 10 players who had to wait for 12 hours before progressing to Hebron. The game was delayed for two days and according to World Bulletin it was only an appeal by the Palestinian FA to FIFA that got action out of the Israelis – just as last year – when finally all players were allowed to pass.
